Dr. Graham Staines - Memorial Day Jan 22

On this Day Jan 22: Dr. Graham Stuart Staines (On 22 Jan 1999) - an Australian missionary who, along with his two sons Philip (10) and Timothy (6), were burnt alive to death by a gang while sleeping in his station wagon at Manoharpur village in Keonjhar district in Odisha, India. 

We commit this great day to LOVE our enemies and FORGIVE those who intentionally did evil. We also pray for the safety of our dear Missionaries who sacrificially labor to build God's Kingdom.

 Dr.Staines had been working in Odisha since 1965. Most of us doesn't know his 34 years of "Leper's ministry" for Caring the Poor and Needy till his death. Staines' widow - Gladys continued to live in India caring for leprosy patients until she returned to Australia in 2004.

 In 2005 she was awarded the fourth highest civilian honor in India, Padma Shree, in recognition for her work with leprosy patients in Odisha.

A Religious priest won't touch a Leper. He wont even touch a Dailt, because such a "detestable human beings" are from "Low Caste".  Only a Christian Missionary filled with the true LOVE of CHRIST can do this ministry. 

When the whole world is running behind the money only chosen few are burning to serve the humanity.   Jesus said," Love one another". Let the world know that you are the disciples of Christ. ( John 13:35).

Benny Hinn cancels Bangalore visit

Bangalore: American evangelist Benny Hinn has cancelled his Bangalore visit days after there were widespread protests against a convention he was slated to hold. Additional Commissioner of Police (Law & Order), Kamal Pant has confirmed it to the media. Benny Hinn will not be a part of the prayer meet in Bangalore that is scheduled to start on Wednesday.

The Bharatiya Janata Party and several right-wing groups claim that the self-proclaimed miracle healer was using this as a tool to convert people to Christianity, and that his prayer conference next week too would be a forum for conversion.

In the latest of such protests, a seer of a religious mutt in the north Karnataka town of Hubli allegedly even attempted suicide during a protest late on Saturday evening. The seer, Pranavanand Swamiji, was staging a protest to demand that the government not allow Hinn entry into Karnataka.

"We are opposed to it. The government should not give him permission, because it is an effort a conversion and conversion is against the Constitution," said VHP leader Praveen Togadia on a visit to Bangalore.

The Opposition BJP has also made its displeasure on Hinn being allowed for a conference known. "Pure and simple, Hinn is a fraud, a farce and he is a big showman. We don't want gullible people to be lured by him. The last time he had come, he made a derogatory comment that idol worship is equal to prostitution... that had hurt the sentiments of everyone," says BJP Karnataka spokesperson and former Minister S Suresh Kumar.

The organisations were against the propagation of superstitious beliefs they think will be promoted by "miracle healing" sessions that Hinn had conducted in his 2005 visit. "Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who was a deputy CM at that time, had himself said such sessions do not augur well for society. When he himself has said that before, it is for him to take a call. India is a country where all religions are given the right to preach, but nobody has the right to induce people to convert and use dirty tricks like posing to heal patients and lure them to convert. That is the main issue," Kumar added.

Adding voice to the call by saffron groups is the rationalist association. Says A S Nataraj, president of a local rationalists association, "My question is, if he can really touch and heal any disease or disorder just by touching, why, there are so many hospitals opened. Why can't he go to the hospitals and just go on touching all the patients and cure them? So this is just a drama, it is cheating. In another name, he is coming here."

But organizers of the event insisted that this conference is far different from the one organized nine years ago. "The last time, it was a public programme, this time it is a private one, a religious prayer conference. Last time it was free for all, this time, we are charging Rs 850 for participants. The last time, it was a Benny Hinn programme, this time he is one of the many speakers at the conference. There is no room for concerns on conversion as only Christians are coming, " says spokesperson for the church, P Chamarajan.

About 25,000 people were expected to attend the conference, as against the crowd of over 2 lakh people that participated in the healing and spiritual programme in 2005, when an entire aerodrome in the city's Jakkur area had been thrown open to hold the crowds.

He pointed out that the church cannot allow others to dictate to it on who should be invited as guests or preachers for their conference. "We have the liberty as to who will come and who we choose as guests. If protesters are going to decide who should speak at our conference, we will not be left with many options. If they choose, they will keep rejecting everybody. We have chosen Hinn because we believe he is good," Chamarajan argues.

"People need to think before they talk. If the sangh parivar is talking without thinking, I think it's very unfortunate to see what they are doing," Chamarajan adds.

His stand was further strengthened by the fact that a public interest litigation filed in the Karnataka High Court against the conference was dismissed by the court, which asked the police to ensure adequate law and order enforcement for the conference.

Pushed to a corner, the government too said it cannot stop a purely religious conference. "What is the controversy? Every time, there is a controversy. The police commissioner will look into it. It has nothing to do with the government, that's the police commissioner's job," Home Minister KJ George had said.

The city police had said that they had nothing against a religious conference, as far as law and order was not compromised. Those concerns exist as the 2005 conference had seen considerable communal tension and some rioting.

Cruel death of Jang Song North Korea - Most cruel and brutal - Example of Cruel heart of a Man

Unlike previous executions of political prisoners, the execution of Jang Song Thaek on December 12 was reportedly one of the most brutal ones ever conducted by the North Korean regime. 

According to a detailed account published in Wen Wei Po, a Hong Kong based Chinese newspaper, Jang Song Thaek, Korean supreme leader Kim Jong-Un's uncle and the second most powerful man in North Korea, was stripped naked and thrown into a cage of 120 hounds who had been starved for three days. 

During the brutal execution, which was reportedly personally overseen by Kim Jong Un, the hounds were allowed to prey on Jang Song Thaek and five of his closest aides who also had been stripped and thrown into the cage. According to the report, the entire process lasted for about an hour by the end of which they were completely eaten up. This is called "quan je" or "execution by dogs".

Political prisoners are usually executed by a firing squad.

Referring to the execution for the first time in his New Year's address, Kim Jong Un said that the state had become stronger after it was purged of "factional filth".

And as he called for better relations with South Korea, he warned that another war on the Korean peninsula would cause a massive nuclear disaster that would hit the US.

Kim, the third generation of his family to rule North Korea, did not refer by name to his uncle Jang Song Thaek, who was executed last month in a rare public purge for crimes against the ruling Workers' Party and harming national interest.

"Our party took a firm measure to get rid of factional filth that permeated the party," Kim said in a broadcast on state televsion that appeared to be pre-recorded, without showing if he was speaking to an audience.

"Our unity strengthened hundredfold and party and revolutionary lines became more solid by purging the anti-party and anti-revolutionary faction," Kim said.

After the sudden death of Kim's father in December 2011, Jang acted as regent to his young nephew as Kim established himself in power. With the purge, Kim may have chosen to remove the only man who may have posed any real threat to him.

Kim's call for improved ties with the South lacked any outline of steps to end the acrimony, and followed a threat from Pyongyang last month to strike Seoul without notice.

"It is time to end abuse and slander that is only good for doing harm ... We will try hard to improve North-South ties," Kim said, adding that "dark clouds of nuclear war constantly hovered over the Korean peninsula".

"If there ever is once again war on this land, it will bring about an enormous nuclear disaster and the United States will not be spared from it," he said.

The two Koreas remain technically at war under a truce that ended the 1950-53 Korean War. The US maintains 28,500 troops in South Korea in joint defence against the North.

All most all the times our decisions and deeds do affect others, and our own selves. The consequences are inevitable. Tolerance and patience will practice us make better decisions. We need to ask ourselves the following questions before we make decisions.

Bad decision means bad future.

 So in order to take right and good decisions, we got to go in line with scriptures. Seek His face or stay confused.

1. WILL IT BRING GLORY TO GOD ? - 1 Cor 10:31 “whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” God must be taken as the first concern in all that we do.

2. WILL IT BE PROFITABLE?  1 Cor 10:23 “Everything is permissible-but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"-but not everything is constructive.” Our decisions should profit my Christian life, my witnessing life or my family life.

3. WILL IT EDIFY? 2 Cor 10:8 “… the Lord gave us for building you up rather than pulling you down,…” Our decisions should build our character or the family and the church in general.

4. WILL IT ENSLAVE ME ? 1 Cor 6:12 "Everything is permissible for me"-but I will not be mastered by anything.” Our decisions should not bring us to slavery.

5. WILL IT CHARACTERISTIC OF THE WORLD (or) OF THE LORD? 1 John 2:16 “For everything in the world — the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does — comes not from the Father but from the world.” Let our decisions show forth the attributes of God and not of the world.

Isaiah 55:8-9 “Indeed, my plans are not like your plans, and my deeds are not like your deeds.

PRAYER :- Father, help me in my decisions. Amen -

சகோ.எமில் அவர்களின் விசுவாசம் மிகப் பெரியது. காரணம் அவரின் பாரமுள்ள கண்ணீர் ஜெபம் அவருக்கு வெற்றியை கொடுத்தது.

  சகோ.எமில் அவர்களின் வீட்டில் ஏற்பட்ட ஒரு சம்பவம் அவரின் ஆழமான விசுவாசத்தை ஊர் மக்களும் அவருடைய உறவினர்களும் நேரில் காண செய்தது.

  சகோ.எமிலின் தகப்பனார் சாயர்புரத்தில் CSI சபை குருவானவராக பணியாற்றினார்.

  சகோ.எமில் அவர்களின் சகோதரிகளில் ஒருவருக்கு திருமணம் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டு நிச்சயம் நடந்தது. திருமண நாளும் வந்தது. வீட்டில் கல்யாண பந்தல், திருமண அலங்காரம் யாவும் முடித்து திருமண நேரம் வந்தது. 

மணமகள் அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்டு வந்து அமர்ந்திருக்கிறாள். மாப்பிள்ளை வர தாமதமாயிற்று. நேரம் கடந்தது. திருமணத்துக்கு வந்த உறவினர், நண்பர்கள் பொறுமையிழந்தனர். 

எமிலின் பெற்றோர் தவித்தனர். உடனே ஒரு ஆள் மாப்பிள்ளை வீட்டிற்கு சென்று விசாரித்து வருகிறேன் எனக்கூறி ஒரு புல்லட் மோட்டார் சைக்கிளில் அதிவேகமாக புறப்பட்டு சென்றார். மொபைல் போன் கண்டுபிடிக்காத காலம் அது.

 புல்லட் வண்டியில் சென்றவர் அதே வேகத்தில் திரும்பி வந்தார்.

 சொன்ன தகவல் என்னவென்றால் மாப்பிள்ளைக்கு மணப்பெண்ணை பிடிக்கவில்லை என்பதாகும். 

எல்லாருக்கும் தூக்கிவாரிப்போட்டது. 

இது ஒரு சபை குருவானவர் வீட்டு கல்யாணம் -

 நிச்சய சடங்கு நடந்தபோதே பெண் மாப்பிள்ளையை பார்த்தார், மாப்பிள்ளை பெண்ணை பார்த்தார். மனபூர்வ சம்மதம் அப்போதே தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது. 

ஆனால் திருமண நேரத்தில் பெண்ணை பிடிக்கவில்லை என்று கூறக்காரணம் என்ன? 

கடைசி நேரத்தில் மாப்பிள்ளை மனது அல்லது மாப்பிள்ளையின் பெற்றோர் மனது வேறு ஒரு பெரிய இடத்து பெண்ணை ஏற்பாடு செய்யும் ஆசையில் மனம்மாறியதாக அறிந்தேன். 

திருமண வீடு - சாவு வீட்டைப்போல் மாறிவிட்டது. 

சில நிமிடத்திலேயே திருமண வீடு துக்க வீடாக மாறிவிட்டது. குடும்பத்தினர் அவமானப்பட்டு தலைகுனிந்த நிலையில் நிலைகுலைந்துபோனார்கள். திருமணத்துக்கு வருகை தந்தவர்களுக்கு மாப்பிள்ளை தாலிகட்ட வர மறுத்துவிட்டார் என்ற செய்தி தீ போல் பரவ, அவர்கள் யாவரும் திரும்பிபோவதா - தொடர்ந்து அங்கேயே அமர்வதா என்ற குழப்பத்தில் அவர்கள் யாவரும் சகோ.எமில் குடும்பத்தினரின் முகத்தை பரிதாபமாக நோக்கினர்.

 வந்தவர்கள் தோல்வியுடன் தங்கள் வீடுகளுக்கு திரும்ப ஆயத்தப்பட்ட நிலையில், சகோ.எமில் எழுந்து திருமணமேடையில் நின்று எல்லாரையும் பார்த்து எல்லாரும் தயவுசெய்து கவனியுங்கள். 

இந்த திருமணம் நின்றுபோனதைக் குறித்து யாரும் கவலைப்படவேண்டாம். இந்த திருமணப்பந்தல் கலைக்கப்படாது. இன்னும் ஒரே வாரத்தில் இதே திருமண பந்தலில் என் அக்காவின் திருமணம் நடைபெறும். நிச்சயமாகவே நடைபெறும் நான் ஆராதிக்கும் தேவனின்மேல் உள்ள விசுவாசத்தில் சொல்கிறேன். ஏற்பட்ட தடைகளுக்காகவும் உங்களுக்கு ஏற்பட்ட சிரமங்களுக்காகவும் எங்களை மன்னியுங்கள் என்று கூறி, இன்னும் சில நாளில் புது மணமகன் யார் என்ற விவரம் உங்கள் வீட்டுக்கு அறிவிப்போம். 

தயவுசெய்து எல்லாரும் அக்காள் திருமணத்துக்கு தயக்கம் காட்டாது மறுபடியும் ஒருமுறை கட்டயமாக வந்துசேருங்கள் என்று கூறி ஜெபித்தார். 

திருமணத்துக்கு வந்த கூட்டம் கலைந்தது. எமில் கூறியபடியே ஒரே வாரத்தில் ஒரு டாக்டரின் குடும்பத்தில் பிறந்த ஒரு நபரை தன் அக்காவுக்கு மணமகனாக தெரிந்தெடுத்து அதே பந்தலில் வெகுவிமர்சையாக அந்த திருமணத்தை நடத்திவைத்தார். 

ஊரே அவரின் விசுவாசத்தையும், விசுவாசத்திற்கு கிடைத்த பதிலையும் கண்டு இப்போதும் அதை விவரித்து புகழ்வதை நான் கேட்டேன். சகோ.எமில் அவர்களின் விசுவாசம் மிகப் பெரியது. காரணம் அவரின் பாரமுள்ள கண்ணீர் ஜெபம் அவருக்கு வெற்றியை கொடுத்தது.

மிகப்பெரிய இழப்பு - 

, “அல்லேலூயா கர்த்தரையே, ஏகமாகத் துதியுங்கள்,” மற்றும், “இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் நல் சீடராகுவோம்,” “பரிசுத்தர் கூட்டம் நடுவில்,” என கிறிஸ்தவத் தமிழ் உலகில், சிறியவர் முதல் பெரியவர் வரை, எல்லோருக்கும் மனப்பாடமாய்த் தெரிந்து, எல்லோராலும் உற்சாகமாய்ப் பாடப்படும் பல பாடல்களை இயற்றியவர், அகில உலக வானொலி ஊழியத்தின் தென் ஆசிய இயக்குனர், சகோதரர் எமில் ஜெபசிங் ஆவார். இந்திய தேசத்தின் மிகச் சிறந்த மிஷனரி இயக்கமாகத் திகழும் நண்பர் சுவிசேஷ ஜெபக்குழுவை வித்திட்டு, உரமிட்டு, வளர்த்திட்ட ஆதிகாலத் தலைவர்களில் இவரும் முக்கியமானவர். “பாடலென்றால் எமில்” என்று கூறுமளவிற்கு, இவ்வியக்க மக்கள் உற்சாகமாய்ப் பாட வழிவகுத்தவர். அழிந்து போகும் கோடிக்கணக்கான இந்தியர் மீதான இவரது உள்ளத்தின் ஆத்தும பாரம், இவரது பாடல்களின் ஒவ்வொரு வரியிலும் தொனிக்கும். இனிமையான ராகங்கள் இவரது பாடல்களின் சிறப்பு அம்சமாகும்

ஒருமுறை ....

அந்த நற்செய்திக் கூட்டத்தில் சலசலப்பு! சிறப்புச் செய்தியாளர் இன்னும் வந்து சேரவில்லை. அரசியல் கூட்டத்தைப்போல, “பிரசங்கியார் இதோ வந்துகொண்டே இருக்கிறார்!” என்று ஒலிபெருக்கியில் அறிவித்தாயிற்று. இப்போது கூட்டத்தை எப்படி அமைதிப்படுத்துவது? பாடுவதற்கு சிறப்புப் பாடல் கைப்பிரதியும் அச்சடிக்கவில்லை.

சமயோசித புத்தியுள்ள போதகர் மேடையில் எழுந்து வந்தார். “இப்போது நாம் ஆண்டவரைத் துதித்துப் பாடப் போகிறோம். நம் அனைவருக்கும் தெரிந்த சில பாடல்களைப் பாடுவோம்.” என்று கூறி, “மகிழ்வோம், மகிழ்வோம்….” எனப் பாட ஆரம்பித்தார். கூட்டத்தினரும் உற்சாகமாக இருகரம்தட்டி உற்சாகமாய்ப் பாடினர். அதைத்தொடர்ந்து, “அல்லேலூயா கர்த்தரையே, ஏகமாகத் துதியுங்கள்,” மற்றும், “இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் நல் சீடராகுவோம்,” “பரிசுத்தர் கூட்டம் நடுவில்,” “ஜீவிக்கிறார் இயேசு ஜீவிக்கிறார் !” எனப் பாடல்கள் முழங்கின. செய்தியாளர் தாமதமாய் வந்த குறையை, ‘அப்பாடல் நேரம்’ நிறைவாக்கிற்று.

சகோதரர் எமில் ஜெபசிங் 10.01.1941 அன்று, மறைத்திரு Y.C. நவமணி ஐயரவர்களுக்கும், கிரேஸ் அம்மையாருக்கும் மகனாகப் பிறந்தார். தனது வாலிப நாட்களிலே, சகோதரர் P.சாம், மற்றும் சகோதரர் N. ஜீவானந்தம் என்ற தேவ வல்லமை நிறைந்த ஊழியர்களின் வழிநடத்துதலால், திருநெல்வேலி மாவட்டத்திலுள்ள பண்ணைவிளையில், தனது 17-வது வயதில் ஆண்டவரின் அன்புக்கு அடிமையானார். ஏமி கார்மைக்கேல், தாமஸ் உவாக்கர், ஈசாக்கு ஐயர் போன்ற பரிசுத்த தேவ ஊழியர்கள் பணிபுரிந்த அவ்வூரிலே, கிறிஸ்துவின் ரத்தத்தால் இதயக்கறை நீங்கித் தூய்மை பெற்று, மிஷனரி தரிசனத்தையும் பெற்றதால், பண்ணைவிளையைப் “பரிசுத்த பூமி” என, இன்றும் எமில் நன்றியோடு நினைவு கூறுகிறார்.

ஆண்டவரின் கரத்தில் தன்னை அர்ப்பணம் செய்த எமில், முதலில் பண்ணைவிளையில் தன் வாலிப நண்பர்களை ஆண்டவருக்காக ஆதாயம் செய்தார். அவர்கள் அனைவரும் கூடி ஜெபித்து ஐக்கியத்தில் பெலப்பட்டனர். அந்நாட்களில், 1959-ம் ஆண்டின் பெரிய வெள்ளிக்கிழமை அன்று, வழக்கம்போல ஜெபத்திற்காக இந்த வாலிபர் குழு கூடியது. அன்று சிறப்பாக தியானம் செய்த ஆண்டவரின் சிலுவைப் பாடுகளும், மரணமும் தங்கள் உள்ளத்தில் வேதனை நிறைந்த பாரமாக அழுத்த, அவர்கள் அமர்ந்திருந்தனர். சோர்ந்திருந்த அவர்கள், முதலில் ஆண்டவரைத் துதித்துப்பாடி, அதன்பின்னர் ஜெபிக்க விரும்பினர். அந்நிலையில் ஆவியானவர் எமிலுடன் இடைப்பட்டார். கரும்பலகை ஒன்று அந்த இடத்தில் இருந்தது. சாக்குத் துண்டை எடுத்த எமில், பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவரின் வழி நடத்துதலின்படி, இப்பாடலை நேரடியாகக் கரும்பலகையில மடமடவென்று எழுதி முடித்தார். அவ்வேளையில் இப்பாடலின் ராகமும் எமிலின் உள்ளத்தில் சுரந்து வந்தது.

3. Earthquakes would be in diverse places (Matthew 24:7)

4. Stress would be part of living (2 Timothy 3:1)

5. Many wars would erupt (Matthew 24:6)

6. People would forsake the Ten Commandments as a moral code, committing adultery, stealing, lying, and killing (Matthew 24:12)

7. There would be a cold religious system, in denying God's power (2 Timothy 3:5)

8. Men would substitute fantasy in place of Christian truth (2 Timothy 4:4). This is so evident at Christmas when the birth of the Savior is lost behind the myth of Santa Claus.

9. Deadly diseases would be prevalent (Matthew 24:7). The worldwide increase in AIDS deaths is almost inestimable. Over 160,000 Americans die of cancer each year.

10. The fact that God once flooded the earth (the Noahic flood) would be denied (2 Peter 3:5-6). There is a mass of fossil evidence to prove this fact, yet it is flatly ignored by the scientific world because of its uncanny implication.

11. The institution of marriage would be forsaken by many (1 Timothy 4:3)

12. There would be an increase in famines (Matthew 24:7)

13. Increase in vegetarianism would increase (1 Timothy 4:3-4)

14. There would be a cry for peace (1 Thessalonians 5:3)

15. The possession of Jerusalem would be at the center of international turmoil (Zechariah 12:3)

16. Knowledge would increase (Daniel 12:4)

17. There would be hypocrites within the Church (Matthew 13:25-30)

18. There would be an increase of religious cults/false teachers (Matthew 24:11 & 24)

19. The future would seem fearful to many (Luke 21:26)

20. Humanity would become materialistic (2 Timothy 3:4)

21. There would be many involved in travel (Daniel 12:4)

22. The Christian Gospel would be preached as a warning to all nations (Matthew 24:14)

23. Jesus said Christians would be hated "for His name's sake" (Matthew 24:9)

The Bible even reveals their motivation, they love lust (verse 3). They fail to understand that a day to the Lord is as a thousand years to us. God is not subject to the time that He created. He can flick through time as we flick through the pages of a history book. The reason He seems to be silent, is because He is patiently waiting, not willing that any perish, but that all come to repentance.

PPP Join as Preventive Prayer Partners....

Prevention is better than cure. This proverb is not practiced in missionary work. Only when calamities or problems hit the missionaries, we mobilize prayer for their deliverance. Why don’t we have some regular PREVENTIVE PRAYER for them? Here are five basic preventive needs of missionaries— Prevention from Defilement The enemy’s arrows are aimed at the missionaries to weaken their testimony. Loss of personal holiness creates hollowness both in life and work. Sex is a great snare. Prevention from Diseases Every other missionary becomes sick due to adverse climatic conditions, poor sanitation, lack of balanced diet, and inadequate rest. The devil rejoices to see the worker inactive because of some physical weakness. Prevention from Depressions Separation from children and family people, problems of children, fruitlessness in the field, unkind and inconsiderate leadership, financial stress, lack of fellowship and spiritual food, and such things leave the missionary depressed. Unless he enjoys a free spirit, he cannot serve joyfully. Prevention from Divisions There’s hardly a mission field where there’s no relationship problem between the workers. When unity and team spirit are lost, there’s no blessing in the work. Prayer must be constantly made that the missionaries glorify God with "one mind and one mouth." Prevention from Dangers Missionaries die of accidents, snake or insect bites, food-poisoning, epidemics, etc. The promises of Mark 16:18 and such passages must be daily claimed for them. During their outstation programmes, the workers’ houses are sometimes looted. Besides all these, there are threats from the enemies of the gospel. We invite you to become a Preventive Prayer Partner (PPP) in our missionary work. Write us if you are burdened. We will allot you a missionary for whom you must pray daily covering the five needs mentioned above. You will hear from the missionary quarterly about his or her welfare. There’s no other obligation for you than to pray. No charges will be requested in any form - anytime. Let each missionary have the privilege of several persons praying daily for his or her spiritual, mental, physical and social needs. Quench not the Spirit - (I Thes 5:19) This language is taken from the way of putting out a fire, and the sense is, we are not to extinguish the influences of the Holy Spirit in our hearts. Possibly there may be an allusion here to fire on an altar, which was to be kept constantly burning. This fire may have been regarded as emblematic of devotion, and as denoting that  devotion was never to become extinct. The Holy Spirit is the source of true devotion, and hence the enkindlings of piety in the heart, by the Spirit, are never to be quenched. Fire may be put out by pouring on water; or by covering it with any incombustible substance; or by neglecting to supply fuel. If it is to be made to burn, it must be nourished with proper care and attention. The Holy Spirit, in his influences on the soul, is here compared with fire that might be made to burn more intensely, or that might be extinguished. (Selected)

Ida Scudder

Ida Scudder (Dec 9, 1870 – May 24, 1960)

Ida Scudder was a third-generation American medical missionary in India. She dedicated her life to the plight of Indian women and the fight against bubonic plague, cholera and leprosy. In 1918, she started one of Asia's foremost teaching hospitals, the Christian Medical College & Hospital in the state of Tamil Nadu.

In the late 1800s, she was visiting her father in India. One night, Ida was asked to help three women from different families struggling in difficult childbirth. Custom prevented their husbands from accepting the help of a male doctor and being without training at that time, Ida herself could do nothing. The next morning she was shocked to learn that each of the three women had died. 

When Ida went back to America, she entered medical training (practically unheard of for women at that time) and, in 1899, she was one of the first women graduates of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University; shortly thereafter, she returned to India and opened a one-bed clinic in Vellore in 1900. In 1918, the medical school for women was opened. Social conservatives argued that she would be lucky to get even three applicants but she had 151 applicants in the first year. Today this college is among the most famous in India. 

The Scudder family have contributed more than 1,100 combined years to medical service in India through 42 members of 4 generations. A school in vellore is now named after Ida Scudder, to honour the foreign lady who made improving the lives of Indian women her life mission

 பாஸ்டர். மோசஸ் ராஜசேகர் (Nov 5th, 2012) Bro.Moses Rajasekar, passed away....

* சுமார் 25 வருடங்களுக்கு முன்னால் வால்பாறையில் இருந்து சென்னையை நோக்கி கிளம்பிய புயல், பாஸ்டர். மோசஸ் ராஜசேகர் அவர்கள்.

* "அப்பாலே போ சாத்தானே...! அப்பாலே போ சாத்தானே..." என்ற பாடலின் மூலமும் "கிறிஸ்தவன டிஸ்டப் பண்ணாதே...! அவன அசால்டாக எண்ணிவிடாதே" என்ற பாடலின் மூலமும் உலகெங்கும் பிரசித்தி பெற்றவர் பாஸ்டர். மோசஸ் ராஜசேகர் அவர்கள்.

* இவர் 31.05.1967ஆம் ஆண்டு கோயம்பத்தூர் மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள வால்பாறை என்னும் பகுதியில் உள்ள வேர்வேல்லி என்ற மலைபிரதேச ஊரில் திரு.மோசஸ்- திருமதி. மாரியம்மாள் என்ற தம்பதியினருக்கு மகனாக பிறந்தார்.

* பாஸ்டர். மோசஸ் ராஜசேகர் அவர்கள், 10ஆம் வகுப்பு படித்து முடித்த சில நாட்களில்
சகோதரி. பத்மா முதலியார் அவர்களின் வேதாகம கல்லூரியில் சேர்ந்து தன்னுடைய இறையியல் படிப்பை முடித்தார்.

* இறையியல் படிப்பை முடித்த சில வருடங்களுக்கு பின்பு விருகம்பாக்கத்தில் உள்ள ஒரு வீட்டில் தன்னுடைய ஊழியத்தை ஆரம்பித்தார். பின்பு நெசப்பாக்கம் பகுதியில் உள்ள Holy cross என்னும் பள்ளயில் ஆராதனை நடத்தி வந்த வேளையில், அதே பகுதியில் உள்ள சூளைப்பள்ளம் என்ற இடத்தில சொந்தமாக ஒரு இடத்தை வாங்க கர்த்தர் கிருபை செய்தார்.

* அந்த இடத்தில் குடிசை போட்டும், சுவருக்கு பதிலாக குடிசையை சுற்றிலும் சேலைகளை கட்டியும் ஆராதனை செய்து வந்தார்.

* தான் ஊழியம் செய்து வந்த இடத்தின் ஒரு மூலையில் தன் குடும்பத்தினரோடு வசித்து வந்தார்.

* பசி, பட்டினி, ஊழிய தேவைகள் என்று பல கஷ்டத்தின் மத்தியிலும் கர்த்தருக்காக ஒரு ஆலயத்தை கட்டவேண்டும்மென்று அயராது உழைத்தார்.

* தன்னுடைய 19ஆம் வயதிலேயே சக்கரை நோய் பாதிப்பு இருந்ததினால் அதிக பெலவீனம் மத்தியிலும் கர்த்தருக்காக உற்சாகமாய் ஊழியம் செய்து வந்தார். அந்த சமயத்தில் தான் கர்த்தர் அவருக்கு கொடுத்திருந்த பாடல் தாலந்தை பயன்படுத்த ஆரம்பித்தார் .

* பல மேடைகளிலும் , ஆலயங்களிலும் கர்த்தருடைய பாடல்களை பாடி ஆண்டவருடைய நாமத்தை உயர்த்தினார் .

* தன்னுடைய "கிருபையே தேவ கிருபையே" என்ற பாடல் சிடியை 1998ஆம் ஆண்டு சென்னை புரசைவாக்கத்தில் உள்ள அப்போஸ்தல கிறிஸ்தவ சபையில் வைத்து அந்த சபையின் மூத்த போதகர்.சாம் சுந்தரம் ஐயா அவர்கள் வெளியிட்டார்கள்.

* சூளைப்பள்ளம் என்ற பகுதியில் ஊழியம் நடந்து வந்த இடத்தில இடம் பற்றாகுறையால் அதே பகுதியில் வெங்கட்ராமன் சாலை போலீஸ் பூத் அருகில் இருந்த ஒரு காய்கறி கடையை வாடகைக்கு எடுத்து சபையை நடத்தினார் .

* குக்கிராமங்களையும், எளியமனிதர்களையும் வெகுவாய் கவரும் "கதைப்பாடல்" வடிவத்தை இவர் பெரிதும் உபயோகித்தார்.இவர் வெளியிட்ட பாடல்கள் (CD Vol 1 to 17, MP3, DVD) கிறிஸ்தவ உலகில் ஒரு எழுப்புதலை உண்டாக்கியது.

* சாதாரணமாக எளிய மக்கள் பேசும் கொச்சை தமிழில் எழுதப்பட்ட பல பாடல்கள் அடித்தட்டு மக்களால் மிகவும் விரும்பி கேட்கப்பட்டன. சென்னைப் புகழ் "கானா" இசையில் இவர் மெட்டமைத்த பாடல்கள் ஒலிக்காத குப்பங்கள் இல்லையென்று சொல்லலாம்.

* வாடகை இடத்தில் ஊழியம் செய்து, பின்னர் அதையே சொந்தமாக வாங்க கர்த்தர் கிருபைசெய்தார்.

* இதற்கிடையில் 2005ஆம் ஆண்டு இரு சிறுநீரகமும் இழந்ததினால் இரத்த மாற்று அறுவை சிகிச்சை எடுத்து வந்தார். ஆனாலும் கடுகளவும் சோர்ந்து விடாமல் கர்த்தருடைய ஊழியதிற்கென்றும் , கர்த்தருக்காக ஒரு ஆலயத்தை கட்டிமுடிக்க வேண்டுமென்றும் அயராது உழைத்து வந்தார்.

* எட்டு வருடங்களில் சுமார் 2600க்கும் அதிகமான முறை இரத்தமாற்றம் சிகிச்சை செய்துக்கொண்டார்.

*2008ஆம் ஆண்டு மீண்டும் ஒரு பயங்கரமான போரட்டத்தை சந்தித்தார், தன் இரண்டு கண்களையும் இழந்தார். ஆனாலும் போதகர் அவர்கள் சற்றும் சோர்ந்து போகாமல் கர்த்தர் தனக்கென்று கொடுத்த ஊழியத்தை செய்துவந்தார்.

* 2011ஆம் ஆண்டு ஒரு மகிமையான ஆலயத்தை கர்த்தருக்கென்று கட்டிமுடிக்கவும் அதனை
சகோதரர்.மோகன் சி.லாசரஸ் அவர்களால் திறந்து வைக்கவும் கர்த்தர் கிருபைசெய்தார்.

* இப்படி பல சோதனையின் பாதையிலும், கண்ணீரின் பாதையிலும் கர்த்தருக்காக உழைத்த போதகர் அவர்கள் 05.11.2012ஆம் நாள் இரவு 8மணிக்கு தான் மிகவும் நேசித்த இயேசுவிடம் சேர்ந்தார் .

* போதகருக்கு ரூத் ராஜசேகர் என்ற மனைவியும், பிரியா ராஜ்குமார் மற்றும் பிலோமினா நாகுல் என்ற மகள்களும் கிங்க்ஸ்லி ராஜசேகர் என்ற மகனும் உள்ளனர்.

* இவருடைய குடும்பதிற்க்காகவும், இவர் விட்டு சென்ற ஊழியதிற்க்காகவும் ஜெபித்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள்
