FMPB leader Bro.Stanley Prince passed away

Friends of Bangalore BYM feel very sad for the demise of FMPB pioneer leader Bro.Stanley Prince. He went to be with the Lord at 6 pm on Friday, Nov 6th. 2015.

His preaching style was very unique and very strict. His ministry was oriented towards the youth. Many of our current FMPB leaders, missionaries and lay-leaders heeded the voice of God based on his powerful sermons. He was a role model to many with his simple lifestyle and strict morals.

He worked as a teacher in his early life, before joining FMPB. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Christy and two sons. Mrs. Christy mobilizes funds for FMPB at ponnagaram, even now at her old age. His eldest son works in Coimbatore. His youngest son works in West Bengal as a Missionary.

Stanley Prince annan was affected by Parkinson disease in his old age. But even after this sickness, he continued to preach while seated on a chair.

“போக வேண்டிய தூரம் வெகு தூரம்... சந்திக்க வேண்டிய கூட்டம் இன்னும் அநேகம்..”  “the distance to go is still a lot more… the people that need to be met are still so many…”

Let us praise God for his life, and pray that he would raise many, many leaders like him. Let us also remember his family in our prayers.

YOGA AND THE CHRISTIAN

Yoga is a Hindu science that claims to teach people how to unite their soul with the "Supreme Soul", and merge their will with the "Cosmic Will".

The practice of yoga has three main components: 
1) The physical exercise component,
2) The mental meditation component, and
3) The verbal chanting component. 

These three are combined to make yoga what it is.Let us think of these three separately. 

1) There is nothing inherently holy or evil about the physical exercise component by itself. If someone stretches his leg in a certain way, that is neither holy nor evil. None of the physical stretching exercises in yoga need be connected with any religion. So we can stretch our muscles and body parts even if it was a Hindu (or a Muslim or a Buddhist) who first taught it. A typical yoga lesson in Western countries may not emphasize the spiritual connection initially. So when people hear that some Christians are opposed to the practice of yoga, they wonder why. The reason is that the more advanced you get into yoga, you invariably move towards the ultimate purpose behind these exercises. So while breathing exercises may appear to be innocent initially, even these could be initial stepping stones that have its overall aim as "merging the individual will with the Cosmic Will."

2) When it comes to the mental meditation component, we need to recognize that meditation as prescribed in yoga is very different from the meditation taught of in the Bible. Yoga teaches people to empty their minds of all thoughts (good and bad) as they meditate. That is simply not the way a Christian must meditate. The Bible tells us to meditate on God's Word at all times. So we are not called to empty our minds, but rather to FILL our minds with God's Word - meditating especially on the verses that tell us how much God loves us (e.g. Psalm 139:17-18, Isaiah 49:15-16, Jeremiah 29:11, etc). And beyond that, to how the love of God compels us to obey His commands and change habits, thought patterns, and mindsets to reflect His love. Yoga prescribes a peace that comes from the vacuum of a fully-emptied mind. Christianity offers the peace of Jesus Christ through the filling of our hearts and minds with the Holy Spirit (John 14:26-27).

3) The verbal chanting component is what we must also avoid altogether. Yoga typically teaches people to keep chanting the word "Om" - a syllable that is supposed to be the highest manifestation of God-consciousness in Hinduism. The invoking of Om to relax is much more than a blind chant of some random syllable. It is an opening of the mind to other spirits. As Christians, we must never seek to achieve any sort of relaxation by such chants. We do not even chant the Name of Jesus, because that Name is not a 'mantra' - and our Lord specifically forbade us from using meaningless repetitions in prayer. The Lord gives us rest in our minds through the Holy Spirit and not by chanting.

It is best to avoid group yoga classes, as these classes are most often led by yoga instructors who subscribe to underlying yogic philosophy. Submitting to their instructions may possibly open your inner being to spirits other than the Holy Spirit, if you are not strong in the Lord. Even if you are strong in the Lord, your example may encourage weaker believers to go to such classes - and they may suffer. So, if there are certain stretches that help your body but also seem to be a yoga exercise, you could practice them on your own in your own home. But if you find any uneasiness in your spirit in doing them, then avoid even that. There are many other forms of exercise that you can engage in, to keep yourself physically fit.

I want to make one additional clarifying note in this context:

There are some who were involved in yoga before coming to a personal knowledge of Jesus Christ, and have experienced the spiritual impact of Hindu yogic practices. When such people become Christians, it is best for them to avoid yoga altogether, even the physical exercise component. Others might be able to see those exercises as just harmless physical stretches, but those who have practiced this and delved into the mental and spiritual acts within yoga simply cannot see it that way anymore. So it's best that such people avoid yoga altogether and not be led into temptation.

I see a similar analogy to this in Romans 14, where Paul was dealing with two groups of people: one who felt that it was absolutely sinful to eat meat that had been offered to idols, while others had no problem with it. I can fully understand how absolutely abhorrent and sinful it must have been for those who had been used to offering meat to idols, to now feel that they could eat it. But yet we know that Paul himself didn't seem to have a problem eating food offered to idols (Rom.14:14). 

To me, the freedom expressed in Romans 14 for two very different points of view is my guide to how I have attempted to express my thoughts on yoga and the Christian.

Finally, let me end with this: We know the mind of the Spirit in all matters by peace in our hearts (Rom.8:6).

Elisabeth Elliot (wife of Jim Elliot) passed away Jun15,2015

Elisabeth Elliot (née Howard; December 21, 1926 - June 15, 2015) was a Christian author and speaker. Her husband, Jim Elliot, was killed in 1956 while attempting to make missionary contact with the Auca (now known as Huaorani) of eastern Ecuador. She later spent two years as a missionary to the tribe members who killed her husband. Returning to the United States after many years in South America, she became widely known as the author of over twenty books and as a speaker in constant demand. Elliot toured the country, sharing her knowledge and experience, well into her seventies. ^[1]

Her book "Shadow of the Almighty: The Life and Testament of Jim Elliot", 1958 has blessed many christians.

Biography She was born in Belgium, and her family included her missionary parents, four brothers and one sister. Elisabeth's brothers Thomas Howard and David Howardare also authors.

Her family moved to the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia in the U.S. when she was a few months old.^[2] In addition to Philadelphia, she lived in Franconia, New Hampshire and Moorestown, New Jersey. She studied Classical Greek at Wheaton College, believing that it was the best tool to help her with the calling of ultimately translating the New Testament into an unknown language. It was here that she met Jim Elliot. Prior to their marriage, Elisabeth took a post-graduate year of specialized studies at Prairie Bible Institute in Alberta, Canada, where a campus prayer chapel is named in her honor. Jim Elliot and Elisabeth Howard went individually to Ecuador to work with the Quichua Indians; they married in 1953 in the city of Quito, Ecuador. But before she started work, she listened to the words of Maruja, a woman of a neighboring tribe. She was held captive for one year by the Huaorani. She stated that the tribe was fierce and they acted like savages, but she also stated that the women were likeable and kind. Their daughter, Valerie (born 1955), was 10 months old when her father was killed. Elisabeth continued her work with the Quechua for two more years.

Two Huaorani women living among the Quichua, including one named Dayuma, taught the Huao language to Mrs. Elliot and fellow missionary Rachel Saint. When Dayuma returned to the Huaorani, she created an opening for contact by the missionaries. In October 1958, Mrs. Elliot went to live with the Huaorani with her three-year-old daughter Valerie and Rachel Saint.

The Auca/Huaorani gave Elisabeth the tribal name Gikari, Huao for "Woodpecker." She later returned to the Quichua and worked with them until 1963, when she and Valerie returned to the US (Franconia, New Hampshire).

In 1969, Elisabeth married Addison Leitch, professor of theology at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton,Massachusetts. Leitch died in 1973. In the fall of 1974 she became an Adjunct Professor on the Faculty of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and for several years taught a popular course entitled "Christian Expression." In 1977, she married Lars Gren, a Hospital Chaplain. The Grens later worked and traveled together.

In the mid-1970s she served as one of the stylistic consultants for the committee of the New International Version of the Bible (NIV). She appears on the NIV's list of contributors.^[3]

In 1981 Mrs. Gren was appointed writer-in-residence at Gordon College in Wenham, MA.

From 1988 to 2001, Elisabeth could be heard on a daily radio program, Gateway to Joy, produced by the Good News Broadcasting Association of Lincoln, Nebraska. 

She almost always opened the program with the phrase, "'You are loved with an everlasting love,' – that's what the Bible says – 'and underneath are the everlasting arms.' This is your friend, Elisabeth Elliot ..."^[4]

In her later years, she and her husband stopped traveling but continued to keep in touch with the public through mail and their website.

Elisabeth Elliot died on June 15, 2015, at the age of 88.

6.3.1951 அன்று நாகர்கோவிலின் மூலச்சல் கிராமத்தில் பிறந்தவர் ஜெயச்சந்திரன். 1969-ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்டு 26-ம் நாள் நாசரேத்தின் மர்காஷியஸ் கல்லூரியின் நல்லொழுக்க வகுப்பில்,ஒழுங்கீனமாகக் கலாட்டா செய்து கொண்டிருந்த ஜெயச்சந்திரனை விஞ்ஞானப் பேராசிரியர் பி.ஞானதுரை ,தனியாக சந்தித்து இயேசுவின் தியாக அன்பைப் பகிர்ந்தார்.

 நிச்சயம் தனக்கு தண்டனை தான் கிடைக்கும் என்று எதிர்பார்த்துப் பேராசிரியரின் அறைக்குச் சென்ற ஜெயச்சந்திரனுக்கு, பேராசிரியர் இயேசுவின் அன்பை பகிர்ந்தது ஆச்சரியமாக இருந்தது. இந்தச் செயலால் அவரை மகிழ்விக்க ஆண்டவரின் விருப்பப்படி தன்னை அர்ப்பணித்து சிறு ஜெபத்தை ஏறெடுத்த ஜெயச்சந்திரனை உற்று நோக்கிய ஆவியானவர்,அவரது உள்ளத்தில் கிரியை செய்ததால் ஜெபத்தின் முடிவில் உண்மையாகவே தன் உள்ளத்தைத் திறந்து கொடுத்தார்.

 மனம் மாறிய ஜெயச்சந்திரன்,கல்லூரி விடுதிக்குப்பின் இருந்த உடைமரக்காட்டில் தனியே வேத வாசிப்பிலும்,ஜெபத்திலும்,நேரத்தைச் செலவிட ஆரம்பித்தார். நாளடைவில் அங்கே மாணவரின் ஜெப ஐக்கியம் உருவானது.

1973-ம் ஆண்டுவரை,அசெம்பிளி ஆப் காட் சபையில்,கல்லூரி ஸ்தானாபதிகள் இயக்கத்தில் இணைந்து ஊழியம் செய்தார்.பல வாலிபர் முகாம்களை வெற்றிகரமாக நடத்திய ஜெயச்சந்திரனை,1972-ம் ஆண்டு துவக்கத்தில்,முழுநேர ஊழியம் செய்ய ஆண்டவர் அழைத்தார். ஊழியத்திற்குப் பிறரை அனுப்புவதில் தீவிரம் காட்டிய ஜெயச்சந்திரன்,தான் போவதற்குத் தயங்கி நின்றார்.

இந்நிலையில்,1972-ம் ஆண்டு,ஜெயச்சந்திரன் மோட்டார் சைக்கிள் விபத்தில் சிக்கினார்.அடிப்பட்டுக் காயம்பட்ட காலை வெட்டி எடுத்துவிட டாக்டர்கள் தீர்மானம் செய்ததால் திடுக்கிட்ட ஜெயச்சந்திரன் ஆண்டவரின் அற்புத சுகம் வேண்டி,தன்னை அவர் பணிக்கு முற்றிலும் அர்ப்பணம் செய்தார்,ஜெப எண்ணையைப் பூசி, ஜெபித்து, பூரண சுகம் பெற்றார்.

தனது முழுநேர ஊழிய அர்ப்பணத்தின்படி,ஜெயச்சந்திரன் 1973-ம் ஆண்டு,பெங்களூரிலுள்ள தென் ஆசிய வேதாகமக் கல்லூரியில் சேர்ந்தார்.தென்னிந்தியத் திருச்சபைப் போதகரான அவரது தந்தை திரு ஜஸ்டஸ்ராபிக்கும்,அவரது தாய் திருமதி.சுலோச்சனாவுக்கும்,தங்கள் மகன் பெந்தெகோஸ்தே அனுபவ வழியில் செல்வது விருப்பமில்லை. எனினும்,தேவனால் ஏவப்பட்டவர்களின் உதவியுடன் வேதாகமக் கல்லூரிப் படிப்பைத் தொடர்ந்தார்.

அந்நாட்களில்,கல்லூரி விடுமுறை நாட்களைக் கழிக்க தனது சொந்த ஊரான நாகர்கோவிலுக்கு வந்திருந்தபோது 6.4.1974 அன்று,ஜெயச்சந்திரன் ஓட்டிச் சென்ற மோட்டார் சைக்கிளின் பின் சக்கர டயர் வெடித்து,எதிரே வந்துகொண்டிருந்த லாரியை நோக்கி,வண்டி அவரை இழுத்துச் சென்றது.ஆனால் கடைசி நேரத்தில் ஆண்டவரின் கிருபையால் உயிர் தப்பினார்.

உடனடியாக தன் கிராமமான மூலச்சல் சென்று,ஒரு சிறு குன்றின் மீது மண்டியிட்டு,ஆவியில் நிறைந்து,தன்னை அற்புதமாய்க் காத்த தேவனைப் போற்றி,ஜெயச்சந்திரன் நன்றி செலுத்தினார்.உள்ளம் நன்றிப் பெருக்கெடுத்தோட,அந்நிய பாஷையில் தேவனைத் துதிக்க, அன்றே, அந்நிலையிலேயே ”காக்கும் கரங்கள்” பாடலை ராகத்துடன் பெற்றுக்கொண்டார்.

படிப்பை முடித்து ஊழியத்தை துவங்கிய ஜெயச்சந்திரன் சந்தித்த கடினமான அனுபவங்கள் ஏராளாம்.

1979-ம் ஆண்டு,தனது அருமை மனைவி பிரேமாவும் முதல் குழந்தையும் மரணமடைந்த போதும்,ஆண்டவரின் கரத்தைப் பற்றிக்கொண்டே,அலைகளைக் கடந்த போதகர் ஜெயச்சந்திரன்,68 பாடல்களையும் ராகத்தையும் இயற்றி,6 ஒலிநாடாக்களையும் வெளியிட்டிருக்கிறார்.

இன்றும் தஞ்சை ”அசெம்பிளி ஆப் காட்” திருச்சபையின் மூத்த போதகராக,ஆண்டவருக்கு வல்லமை நிறைந்த ஊழியத்தைச் செய்து பாடல்களை இயற்றியுள்ளார்.

17.6.1981 அன்று மணம்புரிந்த இவரது அன்பு மனைவி டாக்டர் மனோரமாவும் (ராணி),ஒரே மகள் ஷலோமி பிரியாவும்,இவரது ஊழியத்தில் இணைந்து பாடல்களை இயற்றி,பாடி,தேவனை மகிமைப்படுத்தி வருகின்றனர்.இப்பாடல்,உலகின் பல பகுதிகளில் வாழும் தமிழ் மக்களின் உள்ளங்களில் இன்றும் நம்பிக்கையூட்டி,பெலப்படுத்தி வருகிறது.

Sister Sarah Navaroji

Composer & singer Sister Sarah Navaroji - a pioneer in Tamil Christians entered into the eternal glory.

She was barely 21 when she was chosen for mission work in Ceylon as it was then known. She was to set sail from Dhanushkodi. To reach the coastal town, Sarah had to take a train from Egmore. After boarding the train, she eagerly waited for her mother to arrive (her father had passed on when she was 10) to see her off. But minutes ticked by and there was no sign of her.

The poignant occasion inspired her to compose the beautiful Tamil song while inside the train: ‘Ennai Maravaa Yesu Naathaa,' which spotlights the Lord's unfailing love even though a mother might forget her child. The year was 1960 and composer-singer Sarah Navaroji was getting into her stride.

A pioneer in Tamil Christian devotional music, she is the next big name after the composers of the late 19th century who wrote Carnatic raga-based Christhava Keerthanais. A prolific composer, Sister Sarah Navaroji as she is known, has written, set to tune, sung and recorded 356 songs over the past five decades. Several of her songs are hits and are sung by other artists as well as played in Tamil Christian churches and homes all over the globe. Her VCDs and CDs continue to sell well.

All-time favourites such as ‘Thothiram Paadiyae', ‘Thirupatham Nambi Vandaen' and ‘Unnathamanavarin' are often heard on various occasions but many may not know that these are Sarah's works - they are among her many evergreen hits.

At 73, she earnestly continues her work for God, having chosen to remain single. She commands admiration for her music, sermons and simplicity - clad in all-white, which gives her a definite aura.

In lilting Tamil akin to poetry, the substance of which is comforting and makes one focus on God, her compositions are marked by all the finer nuances of music grammar with pallavi, anupallavi and saranams in place. Hence music directors such as Sathi Victor, Kalyanam,Mangalamoorthi, Henry Daniel, Richard Vijay and Andrew Augustine found it a pleasure to score music for her many albums.

HMV, AIR artist

Sarah was an HMV artist which meant the record company took full charge of production and distribution. For years, the AIR regularly featured her Bhakti Padalgal. She was conferred a doctorate by an international institute in Rhode Island. Many of her compositions have been translated into Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam and she has travelled to the U.S., U.K., and European countries to sing and to take ‘God's Word' to eager audiences.

Solomon Asirvatham, her father, a violinist and Carnatic music teacher named his three daughters after Carnatic ragas: Lalitha, Vasantha and Navaroji and taught them music. Sarah, the youngest in the family, won the first prize in the U.N. song contest when she was a student of Bentinck Girls' High School.

After a divine vision, Sarah resigned her job with the Madras Electricity Board and began to do full time ministry. Professor R. Michael Faraday, Madras Christian College, refers to her songs as “sweet melodies that melt hearts (idhayathai urukkum iniya keethangal)” and includes her in the illustrious list of Indian women who served Christ: Pandit Rama Bhai, Amy Carmichael, Sesharatnam and Sannyasini Ponnammal.

The melody queen Hema John says that Sarah's lyrics have touched the lives of thousands of people and taken them closer to God. “There's divine anointing in her singing”, is how John puts it.

The book, ‘Lily among Thorns' in Tamil has been released. It details the life and music of Sarah Navaroji and is written by Dr R. Samuel, a former merchant navy officer and engineer, who now serves in the Zion Full Gospel Prayer Fellowship Church. For details, contact 9884713075.

The Purpose of Pentecost

Gone are the days when the Baptism with the Holy Spirit was considered a denominational experience. The number of opponents of the Pentecostal truth is on the decline. Recent years have witnessed a number of renowned leaders and theologians of non-Charismatic persuasion changing their position as they tasted the New Wine themselves. The fastest church growth in the world is reported among the Pentecostals and Charismatics. This ought to be so because we are at the end of the last days of the Spirit’s outpouring!

However, there is a sad observation demanding serious attention. We have failed to fully understand the "purpose" of Pentecost. The circumferential benefits of the Spirit Baptism are blown up. The central thrust is sinfully neglected. The peripheral blessings have eclipsed the primary. This is true atleast in India, among a vast majority of Pentecostals.

The supreme purpose of Pentecost was stated in no uncertain terms by Christ in His last words before Ascension: "You shall receive POWER when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be WITNESSES to Me... to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8). Let’s get it right. To equip us with power to witness for Christ is the supreme purpose of the Spirit’s infusion. Any other is secondary.

The Holy Spirit has come to "convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment" (Jn 16:8). He desires sinners to eschew sin and embrace righteousness. He warns them of the impending judgment. The Church is His mouthpiece. The believers are to articulate His message of invitation to the living waters. "The Spirit and the bride say, Come!... And let him who thirsts come" (Rev 22:17).

The greatest miracle of Pentecost was not the sound from heaven, the mighty wind, the flames or speaking in tongues. These were only a prelude. The climaxing event was the baptism of 3000 people! Pentecost plunders hell to populate Heaven!

When the 120 "Christians" received the Pentecostal power, they reaped 3000 souls. In the city of Chennai alone, there are much more than 120 "Churches" claiming Pentecostal experience. Yet the city has not witnessed even 1000 people baptized on any single day. Where does the problem lie? Have we substituted noise for voice? And rattle for revival? Pentecostal power is for public proclamation of the evangel. "Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said..." (Acts 2:14). Christians, Stand up! Speak up!

Tarrying is only "until" we are endued with power from on High. Then we should troop to all nations to preach repentance and remission of sins in His Name! (Lk 24:47-49). Why did Jesus blow the Holy Spirit on the disciples? To warm them and make them feel good? Never! But that they might go as His agents in the ministry of forgiveness! (Jn 20:22,23).

Pentecost makes cowards courageous. Watch Peter before Pentecost and after. "The boldness of Peter... uneducated and untrained!" (Acts 4:13). Let’s stir up the gift of God in us. "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Tim 1:6-8). To witness with "power" against the domains of darkness! To witness with "love" to the hurting humans! To witness with a "sound mind" while succouring the sufferers!

Pentecost is anti-hoarding. It crusades against all selfishness. Its firstfruit is "love" (Gal 5:22). It opens the purses to share with the have-nots. "Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need" (Acts 2:44,45; 4:34,35). That’s why even the business managers of the food distribution programme were to be men "full of the Holy Spirit!" (Acts 6:3).

The slogan of the Pentecostal believer should be, I care! He must go to the poor with good tidings. He must visit the brokenhearted with healing balm. He must proclaim liberty to the captives. He must comfort and console all who mourn. He must give them beauty for ashes and oil of joy for mourning. He must clothe them with the garment of praise instead of the spirit of heaviness (Isa 61:1-3).

Pentecost brings renewal in worship (Acts 2:11). And worship must beget witnessing. The Spirit-baptized disciples were "praising God AND having favour with all the people" (v 47). Worshipless witness is passionless. Witnessless worship is purposeless. Witnessing in fact is an act of worship. It is proclaiming God’s praises to those in darkness (1 Pet 2:9,10).

Restoration movements are specialising in worship. Wonderful. Sermons on the rebuilding of David’s tabernacle abound. Great. But what for is this restoration and rebuilding? "SO THAT the rest of the mankind may seek the Lord, even all the Gentiles..." (Acts 15:15-17). Celebration of God’s praise should not be isolated from confession of God’s grace (Rom 15:9-11). If any of these two dimensions, vertical or horizontal, is missing, we must only say that our Pentecost has not "fully come!"

The semi-believers of the Bible argue that the days of miracles are past. But these men are ignored and God’s remnant people are restudying the Scriptures on the gifts of the Spirit. God is restoring to the Church whatever the locusts of liberals and the cankerworms of critics have eaten. Here again we should beware lest we miss the purpose of these gifts. Oftentimes God’s primary intent is sacrificed on the altar of man’s personal interests.

Jesus gave a partial list of the gifts of the Spirit in Mark 16:15-18. The context is unmistakably evangelism. "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature... And these signs shall follow..." The first healing miracle after Pentecost multiplied the number of disciples to 5000. Men alone so many! (Acts 4:4). The sign gifts are primarily for attesting the gospel preaching (Mk 16:20). "So great a salvation... God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit" (Heb 2:3,4).

Gifts of the Spirit seminars which do not propel the participants to the unreached frontiers, where millions are held under the devil’s spell, have completely defeated the purpose. There are tribal areas where every other person is demon-possessed. Rally there to cast out devils. Thousands of primitive villagers are dying of diseases without any medical help. Run there to exercise the gifts of healing. Mission fields present situations which baffle the best of minds. Rush there with your "word of wisdom" and "word of knowledge." What’s the use of arms and ammunition unless we fight the enemy with them and free the people?

Dr. R. L. Brandt in his timely book, Gifts for the Marketplace, writes, "The Gifts of the Spirit are not for mere spiritual entertainment, nor for theological speculation... The Pentecostal world has generally held the view that the function of the Spirit’s gifts is to be essentially fulfilled within the four walls of the sanctuary... Yet a careful examination of the gifts in the Early Church reveals that they were more commonly used in the marketplace rather than in the meeting place." Raymond Carlson, the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God in the US, in his foreword to this book, overwhelmingly endorses the author’s viewpoint.

Note, even speaking in tongues and prophesying, given for self-edification and church-edification, have evangelistic value. Tongues are a sign to "unbelievers." Prophesying convicts the "unbeliever" (1 Cor 14:22,24,25).

One of the superb pictures of Holy Spirit revival is in Ezekiel 37. As the prophet prophesied, the Lord caused His breath to enter the dry bones. There was noise, rattling and all that. But the operation was not complete until they stood on their "feet" as an exceedingly great army! "Beautiful feet" to go shouting the Good Tidings! (Rom 10:15).

Psalm 51 is an unparalleled prayer for personal restoration. David cried, "O God... Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your generous Spirit." What for? "THEN I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners shall be converted to You" (vv 11-13). We miss not a single Revival meeting, Renewal seminar and Restoration camp. What’s the result? How many are converted thro’ our testimony? Let’s take stock.

Pentecostal outpouring is accompanied by prophesying, dreams and visions (Acts 2:17,18). What should be the end result of all these manifestations? "And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the Name of the Lord shall be saved" (v 21). That God is first and foremost interested in saving of souls is crystal clear. God’s blessings should not stagnate in us. Rather they should flow from us (Jn 7:37,38). "I will bless you... and you shall be a blessing" (Gen 12:2).

Visions and dreams are increasingly popular today. An analysis of the visions and dreams in the Book of Acts shows that most of them were related to missionary evangelism. Peter’s vision was a call to preach to the Gentiles (Ch 10). One of Paul’s visions was to carry the gospel to Macedonia (Ch 16). In another vision God encouraged him to witness boldly amidst hostility (Ch 18). Folks testify of visions of white doves, white angels, white light and so on! Very good. But how about "white" fields ready for harvest? Visionaries must become missionaries.

When will the Pentecostal churches (in India) outdo others in missionary-going and missionary-giving? God cannot endlessly wait and watch millions perish. He so loved the world that He gave away His only Son. But we so love our sons and daughters that we forget the world!

Most of the references to "joy" in the Book of Acts are around evangelism. The disciples rejoiced when they were beaten for their testimony (5:40,41). Philip’s evangelistic campaign caused great joy in Samaria (8:8). Barnabas rejoiced when he saw conversions in Antioch (11:22,23). The Gentiles were gladdened when the apostles turned to them with the gospel (13:47,48). The disciples were filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit following persecution and expulsion of Paul and Barnabas (13:50-52). The conversion of Gentiles in Phoenicia and Samaria caused great joy to the believers (15:3). The joy in the Holy Spirit is the joy of the Harvest. Because, He is the Director of missions (13:4).

One of the grossly misapplied sayings of Jesus concerning the Spirit is Mark 13:11. "Do not worry beforehand, or premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit." Friends, this has no reference to preaching. Much less to preaching without preparation! Observe the context: "The gospel must first be preached to all the nations. But WHEN they arrest you and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand..." (vv 10,11).

More and more anti-Christian forces are lifting up their ugly heads in India. Pentecost means persecution, pain, prison, and that kind. Days will reveal who true Pentecostals are! "If you are reproached for the Name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you!" (1 Pet 4:14).

There are still others who are caught up in the web of perfection theories. They keep on polishing their shoes, not to march on to the fields but to walk round and round on mosaic floors and carpets. They are afraid to soil the shoes! What a master deceiver the devil is!

True the fire of the Spirit is to burn all the chaff and purge us thoroughly. He cleans up the vessel inside and out. But what for? Not to keep in the showcase! Rather to be "useful for the Master, prepared for every good work" (2 Tim 2:21). We should not only walk like Jesus, but also work like Him. One is not complete without the other.

Following the first outpouring of the Spirit, the disciples spoke with gladness the works of God (Acts 2:11). After the second outpouring they spoke with boldness the word of God (4:31). This then is the purpose of Pentecost: TO SPEAK THE WORD OF GOD WITH GLADNESS AND BOLDNESS!

ராஜாவின் வேலையைத் துரிதமாய் செய்யவேண்டும்

மத்தேயு 2:13 ல் வரும் காட்சி: தேவதூதன் தூங்கும் யோசேப்பிடம், கனவில் வந்து குழந்தை இயேசுவுடன், மனைவி மரியாளையும் கூட்டிகொண்டு துரிதமாய் எகிப்துக்கு பயணிக்கும்படிச் சொல்கிறான்.

தாவீது அகிமெலக்கைப் பார்த்து "ராஜாவின் வேலையை துரிதமாய் செய்யவேண்டும். இங்கு ஏதாவது ஈட்டியாவது, பட்டயமாவது இருக்கிறதா? எனக்கு அவசரமாக தேவைப்படுகிறது"என்றான். (1சாமு 21:8). இங்கு தாவீது, அகிமெலேக் என்ற ஆசாரியனிடம்  ஒரு அப்பட்டமான பொய்  சொல்லுகிறான்.    ஆபத்திற்கு பொய் தப்பில்லை என்று உலகமக்கள் கூறினாலும் பொய் என்பது பொய்தான். அது  உண்மையாக மாறமுடியாது. இருப்பினும் சில சமயங்களில் இப்படிப்பட்ட பொய்களில்கூட சில நடைமுறை சத்தியங்கள் அடங்கியிருக்கிறது என்ற உண்மைதான் நமது மனித வாழ்க்கையில் புரியாத புதிராக இருக்கிறது. இந்த இடத்தில் தாவீது யாருமே இல்லாத ஒரு அனாதையாக காட்சியளிக்கிறார். இந்த உலகத்தில் நட்பிற்கு ஒரு இலக்கணமாக விளங்கிய தாவீது - யோனத்தான் நட்பும்கூட இங்கு உதவ முடியவில்லை. தாவீதும், யோனத்தானும் கடைசியாக சந்தித்தபின்பு அந்த நண்பர்கள் பிரிவதை வேதம் இப்படி விளக்குகிறது. "இருவரும் ஒருவரை ஒருவர் கட்டிப்பிடித்து, ஆசை தீர அழுதுவிட்டு - யோனத்தான் தன் அப்பாவின் அரண்மனைக்குப்போனான். தாவீது எழுந்துபோனான்". (20:41-43). தாவீது எழுந்து எங்கே போனான்? கால்போன போக்கிலே போயிருப்பான். எதிர்காலத்தில் அரசனாகப் போகிறவன் இன்று அனாதையாக இருக்கிறான்.ஆண்டவரின் அணுகுமுறைகள் - தனது பிள்ளைகளை பயிற்சிக்கும்முறை     சிலசமயம் கொடுமையாக - கடுமையாக - Cruel ஆக இருக்கிறது.  கனவில் நடப்பதுபோல கால்போன திசையில் நடந்துபோகையில் - அகிமெலேக் என்ற ஆசாரியர் தாவீதின் நினைவிற்கு வந்தார். தேசத்தின் ஹீரோவாக இருந்த தாவீதை இப்பொழுது தேசதுரோகி என்ற பட்டத்தை சவுல் ராஜா அவனுக்கு சூட்டிவிட்டார். இந்த சூழ்நிலையில் ராஜாவுக்கு எதிரியானவனை நாட்டின் எந்த மூலைக்கு போனாலும் யாரும் தாவீதை தங்கள் வீட்டிற்குள் அனுமதிக்கமாட்டார்கள் என்பது எல்லோருக்கும் தெரிந்த ஒரு ரகசியம். இப்படிப்பட்ட ஒருஇக்கட்டான சூழ்நிலையில்தான் அகிமெலேக் என்ற ஆசாரியனிடத்தில்போய் தஞ்சம்புகுந்து - பல நாட்களாக சாப்பிடாமல் இருந்த அவன் சாப்பிட ஏதாவது இருக்கிறதா? என்று அவன் கேட்க - உண்மையிலேயே அந்த ஆசாரியனிடத்தில் சாப்பாடு இல்லை. பலிபீடத்தில் படைக்கப்பட்டதில் மிச்சமிருந்தது  ஆசாரியர்கள்மட்டும் சாப்பிடும் அப்பம் ஆகும். அதை மற்றவர்கள் சாப்பிடக்கூடாது. அதாவது இன்றைய பாஷையில் இராபோஜனத்திற்கு பலிபீடத்தில் - வைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும் அப்பம் மாத்திரமே இருக்கிறது. அதை தாவீது சாப்பிட்டு தனது பசியை ஆற்றிக்கொண்டான். இப்படிப்பட்ட சூழலில் தாவீது கீழே தரப்பட்டுள்ள வார்த்தைகளை சொல்கிறான்.

"ராஜாவின் வேலையை துரிதமாக செய்யவேண்டும்". இந்த வார்த்தைகளைத்தான் நாம் இப்பொழுது சிந்திக்கப்போகிறோம். ராஜாவாகிய ஆண்டவர் நம் ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் கொடுத்திருக்கிற பணியை சீக்கிரமாக நாம் செய்துமுடிக்கவேண்டும். மனித வாழ்க்கையில் செய்யவேண்டிய காரியங்களை - செய்து முடிப்பது ஓர் அரிய செயல். ஆனால் அந்த காரியத்தை செய்யவேண்டிய காலகட்டத்திற்குள் செய்து முடிப்பது அதைக்காட்டிலும் அரிய பெரிய செயலாகும். காலதாமதமாக, ஒரு காரியத்தை ஏனோதானோ என்று செய்து கடைசி நேரத்தில் காலம் கடந்துசெய்து முடிப்பதில் பிரயோசனமில்லை. Delayed Justice is Injustice. காலதாமதமாக கொடுக்கப்படும் நீதி - அநீதி என்ற வாசகம் - நீதித்துறைக்கு மாத்திரமல்ல, நமது மனித வாழ்க்கைக்கும் அது சாலப்பொருந்தும். 15 ஆண்டுகள் வழக்கு விசாரிக்கப்பட்டு, 15 ஆண்டுகள் விசாரணை என்ற பெயரில் சிறை வாழ்க்கை சிறைவாசம் அனுபவித்த ஒரு மனிதனுக்கு நீதிமன்றம் காலம்கடந்து இவர் குற்றம் செய்யவில்லை என்று ஒருதீர்ப்பு வழங்குவதில் என்ன பிரயோஜனம்? ஆம்! அநீதி பாவத்தைக்காட்டிலும் பாவமானசெயல் என்பதை நாம் மறக்கக்கூடாது. இப்படி குற்றம் செய்யாத லட்சக்கணக்கான நிரபராதிகள் தீர்ப்பு வழங்கப்படாமல் விசாரணை கைதிகளாக சிறையில் தண்டனை அனுபவிப்பது என்ன கொடுமை. வாழவேண்டிய நாட்களை குற்றம் செய்யாமல் சிறையில் கழிப்பது எத்தனை கொடுமை. இந்தியாவில் இந்த கொடுமைகள் மிக அதிகம். அரசாங்கம் இதற்கு சீக்கிரம் பரிகாரம் தேடவேண்டும் இது மிக அவசியம். நமது வாழ்க்கையில் நாம் செய்யவேண்டிய வேலையை ஏற்ற சமயத்தில் செய்து முடிப்பதுதான் திறமை, அது பாராட்டப்பட வேண்டியதாகும். எனது சொந்த அனுபவத்தில் நான் கண்ட ஒரு நடைமுறை உண்மையை உங்களிடம் பகிர்ந்துக்கொள்ளவிரும்புகிறேன். ஒரு வேலையை சூட்டோடு சூடாக நீங்கள் செய்துமுடிக்க தவறும்போது - அதாவது காற்றுள்ள போதே தூற்றிக்கொள்ளதவறினால் - அந்த வேலையை கொஞ்சம் ஆறப்போட்டால், அந்த வேலை அப்படியே கிடப்பில் முடங்கி கிடந்துவிடும். சீக்கிரத்தில் அந்த வேலையை முற்றிலுமாக நாம் மறந்துபோய்   விடுவோம். ஒரு முக்கியமான கடிதத்திற்கு பதில் அப்புறம் எழுதிக்கொள்ளலாம் என்று 2, 3 தடவை அதை தள்ளிப்போட்டால், சில நாட்கள் கழித்து அந்த கடிதம் காணாமலேயேபோய்விடும்;. இந்த உண்மையைத் தான் இயேசு நமக்கு இப்படியாக சொல்லுகிறார். "அந்தந்த நாளுக்கு அதன் அதன் பாடுபோதும்" (மத் 6:34). ஒவ்வொருநாளும் நாம் செய்யவேண்டிய பணிகளை, நாளைக்கு நாளைக்கு என்று சொல்லி வேலையைத்தள்ளிப்போட்டு வேலையை பளுவாக்கி சில நாட்களின் செய்யவேண்டிய வேலைகளை ஒட்டுமொத்தமாக வைத்து ஒரே நாளில் செய்ய முற்பட்டு Breakdown ஆகிவிடாதீர்கள். அந்தந்த நாளிலேயே உங்களது வேலையை அவ்வப்பொழுதே செய்து முடித்துவிட பழகுங்கள். வேதபுத்தகத்தில் சில முக்கியமான வேலைகளை உடனே, காலதாமதம் இல்லாமல், துரிதமாக செய்துமுடிக்கும்படியாக ஆண்டவர் நமக்கு கட்டளையிடுவதை நாம் வாசிக்கலாம். அந்த பணிகள் அனைத்தும் உடனடியாக செய்யப்படவேண்டும். காலதாமதம் உயிருக்கு ஆபத்து. அப்படி துரிதமாக செய்யப்படவேண்டிய பணிகள் என்னென்ன, எவை, எவை - என்பதை கீழே கொடுக்கப்பட்ட வேத வசனங்கள் மூலமாக நாம் சிந்திக்கப்போகிறோம். 1.உன் உயிர் தப்ப வேகமாக ஓடிப்போ (ஆதி 19:22) நமது ஆன்மீக ரட்சிப்பு. 2.குழந்தையின் உயிரைக் காப்பாற்ற விரைந்து செல். (2 ராஜ 4:24). 3.இயேசுவின் நற்செய்தியை வீதிகளுக்கும், சந்துகளுக்கும் விரைந்து சென்று சொல்லுங்கள் (லூக் 14:21). 4.கர்த்தரிடத்தில் விண்ணப்பம் பண்ணவும் அவரைத் தேடவும் விரைந்து செல்வோம் வாருங்கள்(சகா 8:21). 5.கடவுளின் ஆலயத்தை பழுதுபார்க்க பணம் சேகரிக்க விரைந்து செல்லுங்கள். (2 நாளா 24:5). மேலே கொடுக்கப்பட்ட 5 குறிப்புகளையும் ஒவ்வொன்றாக சிந்திக்கப்போகிறோம். 1. உன் உயிர் தப்ப வேகமாக ஓடிப்போ: அந்த இரண்டு தூதர்களும் லோத்தை நோக்கி, "இந்த பட்டணத்திற்கு வரப்போகும் அழிவிலிருந்து தப்பித்துக்கொள்ள, எழுந்து உன் மனைவி, பிள்ளைகளையும் அழைத்துக்கொண்டு வேகமாக ஒடி தப்பித்துக்கொள்" என்று கூறி அவனை துரிதப்படுத்தினார்கள். (ஆதி 19:14-22). ( இவ்விடம் விட்டு உடனே புறப்படு ....) 1(a).நமது ஆன்மீக இரட்சிப்பு: ராஜாவின் வேலையை நாம் துரிதமாக செய்வதற்கு முன்பு - முதலாவது நாம் துரிதமாக வேகமாக செய்யவேண்டியகாரியம் - நமது ஆன்மீக இரட்சிப்பு. இது இல்லாமல் ராஜாவின் வேலையை செய்யமுடியாது. (ஏசா 55:6). 2. குழந்தையின் உயிரைக் காப்பாற்ற காலதாமதம் செய்யாதே: "கழுதையை வேகமாக ஓட்டிச்செல், யார் சொன்னாலும் நிறுத்தாதே, வேகத்தை குறைக்காதே". உண்மையானதா? பலமணி நேரம் போராடி ஜெபித்தபின்பு ஆண்டவர் தெள்ளத்தெளிவாக அவளோடு பேசினாராம், என்ன பேசினார்? உன் மகன் சாகவில்லை, உயிரோடு இருக்கிறான் என்று உடனே இப்பொழுது என்ன செய்தாள் தெரியுமா? அந்த ராணுவ தலைமையத்திற்கு "என் மகன் சாகவில்லை, அங்கு ஏதோ தவறு நடந்திருக்கிறது" - என்று பதில் கொடுத்தாளாம். என்ன தைரியம்! என்ன விசுவாசம்!. அடுத்தநாள் அங்கிருந்து ஒரு பதில் வந்ததாம். "இறந்துப்போனது உங்கள் மகன் இல்லை, அதே பெயருடைய இன்னொருவன் இறந்துவிட்டான் - தவறுக்கு மன்னிக்கவும்" என்று பதில் வந்ததாம். ஆம்! இப்படிப்பட்ட விசுவாசம் நமக்கு தேவை. விசுவாசத்தினால் ராஜ்யங்களை வென்றார்கள். நீதியை நடப்பித்தார்கள். கடவுளின் வாக்குத்தத்தங்களை பெற்றார்கள். சிலர் சிங்கங்களின் வாய்களை அடைத்தார்கள். இறந்துப்போன தமது பிள்ளைகளை சிலர் திரும்ப பெற்றார்கள். (எபி 11:33). சூனேமியாளின் கதைக்கு திரும்புவோம். சூனேமியாள் அவசரமாக, பதட்டத்துடன் தன்னை நோக்கி வருவதைக்கண்ட எலிசா - இவளது மகனுக்கு ஆபத்து என்று புரிந்துக்கொண்டார். உடனே தான் போவதற்கு பதிலாக - இந்த இடத்தில் எலிசா தீர்மானம் எடுப்பதில் சற்று தடுமாறி - தனது வேலைக்காரனையும், தனதுகோலையும் அனுப்புகிறான். அதில் எந்த பயனும் இல்லை - என்பதை சூனேமியாள் புரிந்துக்கொண்டு எலிசாவின் காலைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு - "நீர்தான் வரவேண்டும், நீர் வராவிட்டால் இந்த இடத்தைவிட்டு நகரமாட்டேன்" என்று உடும்புப்பிடியாக பிடிக்கிறாள். உடனே எலிசா தன்னிடம் காணப்பட்ட சோம்பலை சற்று ஒதுக்கி வைத்துவிட்டு - வேகமாகபுறப்படுகிறார். தன் அறைக்கு வந்தபோது - குழந்தை பேச்சு மூச்சு இல்லாமல் கிடப்பதை காண்கிறார். தாயையும், தன் வேலைக்காரனையும் வெளியே இருக்கச் சொல்லிவிட்டு - டாக்டரைப்போல் ஒரு மினி ஆப்ரேஷன் செய்வதுபோல் - மற்றும் முதலுதவி கொடுப்பதுபோல் - பிள்ளையின் உடம்பில் சூடு உண்டாக இவர் பலமுறை பிள்ளையின் மேல்படுத்து வாயில் ஊதி சிகிச்சை செய்கிறார். இயேசு எச்சிலை உமிழ்ந்து - தரையில் துப்பி - அதை எடுத்து குருடன் கண்ணில் பூசுவதுபோல் எலிசாவும் செய்வதை நாம் காணமுடிகிறது. பல அற்புதங்களை கண்மூடி திறப்பதற்குள் செய்துமுடித்தஎலிசா இந்த விஷயத்தில்மட்டும் பல கடினமான செயல்களை செய்வதை நாம் கண்கூடாக காணமுடிகிறது. ஆம்! ஆண்டவருடைய அற்புதம் நமது வாழ்க்கையில் நடைபெறும்போது அவை அனைத்தும் ஒரே மாதிரி இராது - ஒவ்வொன்றும் வித்தியாசமான முறையில் இருக்கும். ஒரே மாதிரி நடைபெறவேண்டும் என்று நாம் எதிர்ப்பார்ப்பது நமது தவறு.  சில அற்புதம் கண்மூடி திறப்பதற்குள் நடந்துவிடும். சில அற்புதம் நடக்க நாம் போராடி ஜெபிக்கவேண்டும். எப்படியோ பலமணி நேரம் போராடி ஆண்டவரிடத்தில் விண்ணப்பம் பண்ணி - அந்த குழந்தையை எலிசா உயிரோடு எழுப்பிவிட்டார். தாயை அறைக்குள் அழைத்து உன் மகனை தூக்கிக்கொள் என்று சொன்னபோது அந்த தாயின் முகத்தில் நிலவிய சந்தோஷத்தை யாராலும் விவரிக்க முடியாது. அவ்வளவு மகிழ்ச்சி அந்த தாயின் முகத்தில் பெருக்கெடுத்து ஓடியது. ஓடிப்போய் குழந்தையை தூக்குவதற்கு முன்பு எலிசாவின் காலில் விழுந்து அவருக்கு நன்றி செலுத்தினாள். இப்படிப்பட்ட அற்புதம் நமது வாழ்க்கையில் நடக்கவேண்டுமானால், நாம் செய்யவேண்டிய சில காரியங்களை காலதாமதம் இல்லாமல் செய்யவேண்டும். துரிதமாய் செயல்பட்ட  காரணத்தினால்தான் அந்த சூனேமியாள் எலிசாவைக்கண்டு அவரிடம் தனது தேவையை சொல்லி நீர் வராமல் இந்த இடத்தை விட்டுபோகமாட்டேன் என்று அடம்பிடித்ததின் நிமித்தம் எலிசா உடனே புறப்பட்டு வந்து அந்த குழந்தையின் உயிரை காப்பாற்ற முடிந்தது. காலதாமதம் உயிருக்கு ஆபத்து. 1984ம் ஆண்டு நமது பாரதப் பிரதமர் இந்திரா காந்தி துப்பாக்கியால் சுடப்பட்டபோது அவர்களை மருத்துவமனையில் கொண்டுபோய் சேர்ப்பதில் 2, 3 மணி நேரம் காலதாமதமானது. இந்த காலதாமத்தை ஒரு பத்திரிக்கை Lethal Lethargy என்று எழுதினார். அதற்கு மரணத்தை வரவழைத்த காலவிரயம் என்று அர்த்தம் ஆகும். 2008ல் நவம்பரில் 26ம் தேதி பம்பாயில் நடந்த தீவிரவாதிகளின் திடீர் தாக்குதலை சந்திக்கவந்த NSG என்ற அதிரடிபடை டெல்லியிலிருந்து பம்பாயிக்கு ஏறக்குறைய 12 மணி நேரம் காலதாமதமாக வந்து சேர்ந்தது. அந்த தாமதமான இடைவெளியில் பல உயிர்கள் பறிப்போனது. 1இராஜ 7ம் அதிகாரத்தில் நான்கு தொழுநோயாளிகளும், அவர்களுக்குள் இவ்வாறு பேசிக்கொண்டார்கள். இன்று நமது நாட்டிற்கு நல்லசெய்தி கிடைத்துள்ளது. நாளைக் காலைக்குள்இச்செய்தியை சொல்லாமல் இருப்போமானால் நம்மேல் குற்றம் சுமத்தப்படும். வாருங்கள் (இன்றே, இப்பொழுதே) நாம் போய் இந்த நல்லசெய்தியை அறிவிப்போம் என்றார்கள். (2இராஜா 7:9) என்ன அற்புதமான அர்ப்பணம்! பொறுப்புணர்வு!!. இதை வாசிக்கிற நீங்களும், நானும், மற்றவர்களுக்கு உதவி செய்ய விரும்பினால், அதை மனதில் நினைத்துக்கொண்டு, கனவு கண்டுகொண்டு உட்காராதீர்கள். உடனே உதவிசெய்ய புறப்பட்டு செல்லுங்கள். காலதாமதமாக செயல்படுவது நல்லதல்ல . ஏற்ற சமயத்தில் சொல்லப்பட்ட வார்த்தை வெள்ளித்தகட்டில் வைக்கப்பட்ட பொன் பழத்திற்கு சமானம். அதுபோலவே, நாம் மற்றவர்களுக்கு கொடுக்கும் உதவியும்கூட, ஏற்ற சமயத்தில் செய்யப்படவேண்டும். காலதாமதமாக செய்யப்படும் உதவி தேவையற்றதாக போய்விடும் என்பதை மறக்கவேண்டாம். காலதாமதம் செய்வது, பல சமயங்களில் உயிர்சேதத்தில் முடியும். செய்யவேண்டியதை நாம் சீக்கிரமாக செய்ய கற்றுக்கொள்ளவேண்டும். எல்லா காரியங்களையும் ஒரே நேரத்தில் நம்மால் செய்யமுடியாது. ஆனால் எதையாவது ஒன்றை உடனே செய்யுங்கள். சும்மா நேரத்தை வீண்விரையம் செய்யாதீர்கள். அடுத்து, நாம் என்ன செய்யவேண்டும் என்று அறிந்துகொள்வதுதான் ஞானம். அறிந்துக் கொண்டதைஎவ்வாறு செய்வது என்பது திறமை. ஆனால் அறிந்துக்கொண்டதையும், எப்படி செய்யவேண்டும் என்பதையும் உடனே செய்வதுதான் சமயோசிதம். உருளும் கல்லில், தூசியோ, மண்ணோ எதுவுமே ஒட்டாது. அதுபோலவே துணிந்து செயல்படுபவனும் எதற்கும் அஞ்ச அவசியமில்லை, துணிந்தவனுக்கு துக்கமில்லை. சரியான ஒன்றை செய்வதற்கு தவறான நேரம் எதுவுமே கிடையாது. உலகத்தை வென்ற மகா அலெக்ஸாண்டரிடம் உங்களது வெற்றியின் ரகசியம் என்ன என்று கேட்டபோது நான் "எதையுமே தள்ளிப்போடமாட்டேன். உடனே செய்வதுதான் எனது வெற்றியின் இரகசியம்" என்று பதில் கொடுத்தாராம். 3. இயேசுவின் நற்செய்தியை வீதிகளிலும், சந்து பொந்துகளிலும் விரைந்து சென்று அறிவியுங்கள்: வீட்டு எஜமான் தனது வேலையாட்களைப் பார்த்து "நீங்கள் நகரின் வீதிகளுக்கும், சந்துகளுக்கும் விரைந்துசென்று ஏழை, எளியார், கால் ஊனமுற்றோர், பார்வையற்றோர் - எல்லோரையும் அழைத்துக்கொண்டு வாருங்கள்" (லூக் 14:21) என்றார். ராஜாவின் வேலையை நாம் துரிதமாக செய்யவேண்டும் என்ற வார்த்தைக்கு ஆவிக்குரிய அர்த்தமாக நாம் அடுத்து சிந்திக்கப்போவது சுவிசேஷம் என்னும் நற்செய்தியை எல்லா மக்களுக்கும் எல்லா நாட்டினருக்கும் அறிவிக்கும் பணி ஆகும். இதை நாம் தீவிரப்படுத்தவேண்டும். நாம் வாழும் இந்த உலகத்தில் தற்சமயம் ஏறக்குறைய 700 கோடி மக்கள் 225 தேசங்களில்வாழ்ந்துகொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள். இதில் 300 கோடி மக்கள் கிறிஸ்துவர்கள் - அதுவும் பெயர் கிறிஸ்துவர்கள். மீதமுள்ள 400 கோடி மக்களுக்கு ஏதாவது ஒருவழியில் நற்செய்தியை மக்கள் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளவைப்பதும் நமது பொறுப்பல்ல.  அது ஆண்டவரது செயல், ஆனால் அவர்களுக்கு சுவிசேஷம்அறிவிப்பது நமது தலையாய கடமையாகும். அது ஆண்டவர் நம்மிடம் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட பொறுப்பாகும். ரேடியோ மூலம், டெலிவிஷன் மூலம், பத்திரிக்கை, துண்டுப்பிரதிகள் வாயிலாக எப்படியாவது நற்செய்தியை அவர்களுக்கு அறிவிக்கவேண்டும். மலைகளில் நடந்து செல்லும் நற்செய்தியாளரின் பாதங்கள் எவ்வளவு அழகாய் இருக்கிறது - என்று சுவிசேஷத்தை அறிவிக்கும் மிஷனரிகளின் பாதங்களைப்பற்றி வேதம் அழகாய் விவரிக்கிறது. இந்த உலகத்தில் ஒரு வினாடிக்கு 3 பேர்கள் மரித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள். இந்த 3 பேர்களும் கிறிஸ்துவற்ற கல்லறைக்குள் போய்கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள். இந்த செய்தியை நீங்கள் வாசிக்க தொடங்கிய நேரம்முதல் இந்த விநாடிவரை சுமார் 15 நிமிடங்கள் கடந்துவிட்டன. இந்த 15 நிமிடங்களில் ஏறக்குறைய நிமிடத்திற்கு 180 பேர்கள் வீதத்தில் 180x15=2700 பேர்கள் மரித்துவிட்டார்கள். இதை வாசிக்கிற நீங்கள் கற்பனை செய்து பாருங்கள். சுவிசேஷத்தை நான் மற்றவர்களுக்கு பிரசங்கிக்கவிட்டால் எனக்கு ஐயோ! என்று பவுல் அலறுகிறார். யான் பெற்ற இன்பம் இவ்வையகம் முழுவதும் பரவட்டும் என்று நாம் பாடவேண்டும். சுவிசேஷம் நமது இந்தியாவிற்கு முதல் நூற்றாண்டிலேயே - தோமா மூலமாக வந்துவிட்டது. இயேசு உயிர்த்தெழுந்து தனது சீடர்களுக்கு முதலில் காட்சியளித்தபோது தோமா அங்கு இல்லை. "நான் அவரைப் பார்த்து அவரது விலாவில் என் கையைப்போட்டு, அவரது கால், கையில் உள்ள காயங்களை தொட்டுப்பார்த்து அவைகளை Verify பண்ணியபிறகுதான் நான் நம்புவேன்" என்று தோமா கூறினார். அவரது சந்தேகத்தை தீர்க்கவேண்டித்தான் இரண்டாவது முறையாக உயிர்த்தெழுந்த இயேசு காட்சியளித்தார். அந்த சமயத்தில் தோமாவை அழைத்து, என் விலாவில் உன் கையைப்போடு என்று சொல்லியபோது, தோமாவின் உள்ளம் சுக்கு நூறாக உடைந்தது. சந்தேகத்தின் உருவகமாக மாறிய தோமாதனது தவறை உணர்ந்து, இதை சரிக்கட்ட (Compansate-பண்ண) ஆண்டவரே நான் என்ன செய்யவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டிருப்பார். இதை எதிர்ப்பார்த்திருந்த "ஆண்டவர் தோமாவைப்பார்த்து நீ இந்தியாவிற்கு மிஷனரியாகப்போ" என்று கட்டளையிட்டார். அதன் விளைவாகத்தான் தோமா இந்தியாவிற்கு மிஷனரியாக வந்தார். தோமாவுக்குள் ஏற்பட்ட சந்தேக குணம் இந்தியாவிற்கு சாதகமாக அமைந்துவிட்டது. இரண்டாவது முறையாக உயிர்த்தெழுந்த இயேசு தோமாவிற்கு காட்சியளித்தது இந்தியாவிற்காகமட்டுமே என்பது இங்கு குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது. இயேசு இந்தியாவை நேசிக்கிறார். இந்த உலகத்தில் வாழும் ஒவ்வொரு கிறிஸ்தவனும் ஒரு மிஷனரி என்று உணரவேண்டும். எத்தனையோ வாலிபர்கள் தங்களது வாழ்க்கையை தங்களது வாலிபப் பிராயத்தை மிஷனரி பணிக்காக ஆண்டவரது பணிக்காகவும் அர்ப்பணித்திருக்கிறார்கள். இங்கிலாந்து தேசத்தை சேர்ந்த C.T.ஸ்டட் என்ற வாலிபன் நல்ல ஒரு கிரிக்கெட் விளையாட்டு வீரர். இவர் D.L.மூடியின் பிரசங்கத்தைக் கேட்டு மிஷனரிப் பணிக்காக தனது வாழ்க்கையை அர்ப்பணம் செய்தார். தனது அப்பா சொத்தில் கிடைத்த 2 கோடி ரூபாயையும் மிஷனரிப் பணிக்காக கொடுத்தார். வில்லியம் கேரி 1791ம் ஆண்டு கல்கத்தாவிற்கு மிஷனரியாக வந்து 32 மொழிகளில் வேதாகமத்தை மொழிபெயர்க்க மூலக்காரணமாக இருந்தார். அது போல ராய்மென்ட் லூல் என்ற மிஷனரி இஸ்லாமிய மக்கள் மத்தியில் பல ஆண்டுகள் மிஷனரியாக பணியாற்றி ஆப்பிரிக்காவில் உள்ள பயூகியா என்ற இடத்தில் 1814ம் ஆண்டு கல்லெறிந்து கொல்லப்பட்டு இரத்தசாட்சியாக மரித்தார். மேகம் போன்ற இத்தனை திரளான சாட்சிகள் நம்மை சூழ்ந்திருக்க நம்மை நெருங்கி நிற்கிற பாரத்தையும், பாவத்தையும் தள்ளிவிட்டு, மனஉறுதியோடு நமக்கென்று ஆண்டவர் குறித்துள்ள ஓட்டத்தில் ஓடக்கடவோம். (எபி 12:1). "யாரை நான் அனுப்புவேன்? நமது பணிக்காக யார் போவார்? என்று கேட்கும் ஆண்டவரின் சத்தத்தைக்கேட்டேன். அப்பொழுது ஆண்டவரே, இதோ, நான் இருக்கிறேன் என்னை அனுப்பும் என்றேன்" (ஏசா 6:8). 4. ஜெபம் பண்ண விரைந்து செல்லுங்கள்: ஒரு பட்டணத்தின் குடிமக்கள் அருகிலுள்ள மற்றொரு பட்டணத்தின் குடிமக்களை நோக்கி, நாம் கர்த்தருடைய சமூகத்தில் விண்ணப்பம் பண்ணவும், கர்த்தரைத் தேடவும், விரைந்துப்போவோம் வாருங்கள் என்று சொன்னார்கள். சகரி 8:21. ராஜாவின் வேலையில் நாம் துரிதமாக செய்யவேண்டிய மிகமிக முக்கியமான அவசரமான வேலைகர்த்தரை நோக்கி ஜெபம் பண்ணுவதும், அவரைத் தேடுவதும்தான் என்பதை குறிப்பிட்டு சகரியாஎன்ற தீர்க்கதரிசி நாம் ஜெபம் பண்ணவேண்டும் என்ற ஒரு முக்கியமான செய்தியை நம்மோடு பகிர்ந்துக்கொள்கிறார். இயேசுகிறிஸ்து இந்த உலகத்தில் வாழ்ந்த 33½ ஆண்டுகளில், அவர் பல அற்புதங்களை செய்தார். பலருக்கு சுகம் கொடுத்தார், பிசாசுகளை விரட்டினார். பல பிரசங்கங்களையும் போதனைகளையும் பிரசங்கித்தார். சாப்பிடுவதற்குக்கூட நேரமில்லாமல் ஓடி ஓடி உழைத்தார். ஆனால் இப்படிப்பட்ட Busy Shedule மத்தியிலும் அவர் ஜெபிக்க மாத்திரம் தவறியது கிடையாது. அவர் தேவகுமாரன். அவர் தேவன், இருப்பினும் அவருக்கு அவர் மனுஷனாக பிறந்து வாழ்ந்ததால் ஜெபம் தேவைப்பட்டது. அந்த ஜெபத்தை அவர் மறக்கவே இல்லை. அதனால்தான் இயேசுவின் சீஷர்கள் அவரிடத்தில் எங்களுக்கு பிரசங்கம் பண்ண கற்றுத்தாரும். அற்புதம் செய்ய, பிசாசை விரட்ட, சுகம் கொடுக்க, கற்றுத்தாரும் என்று கேட்காமல் ஜெபிக்க கற்றுத்தாரும் என்று கேட்டார்கள். ஊழியத்தின் வெற்றியின் ரகசியம் இயேசுவின் ஜெப வாழ்க்கைதான் என்பதை சீஷர்கள் நன்கு புரிந்துகொண்டார்கள். தென் கொரியாவின் எழுப்புதலுக்கு காரணம் - ஜெபம்.  நாம் ஜெபிப்பதற்கு விரைந்து செல்லவேண்டும். ஜெபக்கூட்டத்திற்கு மக்கள் விரைந்து கூட்டம் கூட்டமாக செல்வதை தென் கொரியா தேசத்தில் நான் பார்த்திருக்கிறேன். அங்கு காலை 5 மணியிலிருந்து 6 மணிவரை 5000 பேர்கள் கூடிவந்து ஆலயத்தில் ஜெபிப்பதை நான் கண்கூடாக பார்த்திருக்கிறேன். சிறுவர், சிறுமியர், ஆண்கள், பெண்கள், பெரியோர் எல்லோரும் கூடிவந்து ஆலயத்தில் - காலை 5 முதல் 6 மணிவரை அவர்கள் கூடிஜெபிப்பது ஒரு கண்கொள்ளா காட்சியாக ஒரு விசேஷித்த அனுபவமாக எனக்கு இருந்தது. உங்கள் போதகர்களுக்காக ஜெபியுஙகள். உங்கள் குடும்பத்தாருக்காக ஜெபியுங்கள். சபையாருக்காக,  உங்கள்ஊராருக்காக, நாட்டிற்காக ஜெபியுங்கள். உங்கள் நண்பர்களுக்காக ஜெபியுங்கள். ஜெபகுறிப்புகளை எழுதிவைத்து தொடர்ந்து ஜெபியுங்கள். ஒரு வீடு ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படவேண்டுமானால் அந்த வீட்டில் ஜெபம் ஏறெடுக்கப்படவேண்டும். அந்த ஜெபம் அந்த வீட்டையும் அதில் வாழும் - மக்களையும் பாதுகாக்கும் பாதுகாப்பு கவசமாக மாறும். ஜெபம் இல்லாத வீடு - கூரையில்லாத வீடு என்ற உண்மையினை மறக்கவேண்டாம். இரவு 2மணிக்கு எழுந்து கணவருக்காக ஜெபித்த மனைவி: 1912ம் ஆண்டு ஏப்ரல் மாதம் - ஒரு ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை இரவுநேரம் ஒரு வயதான அம்மா களைத்துப்போயிந்தார்கள். ஆயினும் திடீரென அந்த அம்மாவின் உள்ளத்தில் ஜெபிக்கவேண்டும் என்றதொரு உள்ளூர பாரம் ஏற்பட்டது. அவரது கணவருக்காக ஜெபிக்கும்படியாக ஒரு இருதய பாரம் அந்த அம்மாவிற்கு உண்டானது. பல மணிநேரம் பாரத்தோடு ஜெபித்தார்கள். காலை 5 மணி வரை ஜெபித்துவிட்டு தூங்கிவிட்டார்கள். இந்த சமயத்தில் அவரது கணவன் டைட்டானிக் கப்பலில் பிரயாணம் செய்த அவர் - அந்த கப்பல் உடைந்து அட்லாண்டிக் மகா சமுத்திரத்தில் மூழ்கிக்கொண்டிருந்தது. அந்த கப்பல் கடலில் மூழ்கியபோது அவர் ஒரு சுழலில் மாட்டிக்கொண்டார். அதே சுழல் மீண்டும் சுழன்று அவரை தண்ணீரின் மேல்மட்டத்திற்கு கொண்டுவந்தபோது மிதந்துக்கொண்டிருந்த ஒரு படகை அவர் பிடித்துக்கொண்டார். அந்த படகில் ஏறி உயிர்தப்பினார். அப்பொழுது நேரம் அதிகாலை 5 மணி. அதே நேரத்தில்தான் அவரது மனைவியும் வீட்டில் தன் ஜெபத்தை முடித்தார்கள் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது. நீங்களும் ஜெபியுங்கள், இடைவிடாமல் ஜெபியுங்கள். பிரசங்கம் செய்து அழிந்து போனவர்கள்அநேகர் உண்டு. ஆனால் ஜெபித்து அழிந்துப் போனவர்கள் யாருமே கிடையாது. இந்த உலகின் முன்னோடி விஞ்ஞானியான சர் ஐசக் நியூட்டன் அவர்கள் ஒரு ஜெபிக்கும் கிறிஸ்தவர்.
